Privacy
Your data, handled with care
Applicants often share sensitive information to prove their need. Here's exactly what happens to it.
This plain-language summary describes how the platform is built. It is not yet a formal privacy policy and will be reviewed by a lawyer before launch.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address and/or the public address of any wallet you sign in with.
- Application details: your name, contact email, country, applicant type, project information, funding request and the evidence you choose to upload or link.
- Security data: session records and a one-way hash of your IP address, used to prevent abuse.
Who can see it
- Your application and evidence are private. Only you and OpenFund reviewers can see them. Every time a reviewer opens an uploaded file, it's recorded in an internal audit log.
- We never publish names, email addresses, ID documents, student records, home addresses or private documents.
- If you're funded and you opt in, an admin writes a short public profile (category, project summary, tools, amount, outcome). You can opt out at any time from your dashboard, and the profile is hidden immediately.
What's public by design
- Fund transactions are on a public blockchain. Grant payouts are visible there by nature. If a grant is paid to your own wallet, that wallet address will be publicly linked to a grant number. You can ask us to pay a provider directly instead.
- Impact statistics are aggregated. Countries are only shown once at least three recipients are from there.
How long we keep it
- Uploaded evidence is deleted after a final decision, within 90 days. Application text is kept so funding decisions stay accountable.
- You can ask us to delete your account and application data. Records needed to explain on-chain payouts (grant number, amount, date) are kept.
What we never do
- We never sell your data or use it for advertising.
- We never ask for your wallet's seed phrase or private key, and our servers never hold one.
